From the desk of Sky Thomas, MSW, RCSWI
Hi, I’m Sky, a dedicated and compassionate therapist and graduate of FGCU with both a Bachelors and Masters in social work. Over the years, I have built a strong network in the community through living, working, going to school, and volunteering in Southwest Florida. I’m passionate about providing my clients a safe, nonjudgmental space so that we can develop an effective therapeutic relationship based on trust and empathy. My experience includes utilizing traditional talk therapy approaches to work with individuals, families and groups who struggle with social skills, anxiety, depression, life adjustments / transitions, ADHD etc.
I also pride myself on my inclusion of clients’ creative expression through art, writing, and music which helps them relieve stress and heal from life’s challenges throughout our work together. No matter what you are looking to achieve from therapy, I will work collaboratively with you to understand your past and current experiences and work towards holistic healing of your mind and body. Together we will process emotions, experiences, and learn coping skills to help you become the best version of yourself.
Like you, I’m continuing to grow. I am currently pursuing state licensure to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as well as further training in diverse therapy approaches which will help me provide therapy services to each unique client I meet with. I look forward to meeting you.

Discover Yourself Through Art: Join Sky's Art With Open Minds Group
Sky’s “Art With Open Minds” groups offer a unique and creative path to well-being for young people. Through engaging art projects like painting, sculpting, and mixed media, participants will explore their emotions, develop valuable coping skills, and build meaningful connections with peers. Whether your child is navigating the complexities of their pre-teen years in “Project Balance” or tackling the challenges of teenage life in “Teenage Life 101,” they will learn to foster healthy habits and build a life that feels both happy and healthy. Each session is a new opportunity to create, connect, and grow.
The Client Experience
Sky’s ideal client is an individual, often an adolescent or young adult, open to change. Clients typically present with feelings of being overwhelmed and stressed, as well as struggling to identify their strengths. After working with Sky, they develop a sense of hope, gain confidence, and learn to navigate life's challenges with newfound skills. The most rewarding outcome for her clients is an increased sense of confidence in their ability to manage whatever challenges they face.
A common scenario is a client who arrives believing they can not find a way through their current struggles. Through therapy, they begin to explore their thoughts and feelings, and as a result, they start to enjoy the process of identifying their strengths and using learned skills to work through challenges.
Common Misconceptions
Sky often helps clients address the misconception that their mental health is controlled by influences outside and therefore out of their ability to change. She uses mental health questionnaires and regular discussions to help clients understand and measure their progress and success. Sky is passionate about dispelling the myth that creative expression in therapy is not as effective as other modalities, a topic she plans to address in future content.
